Port Elizabeth, South Africa, – October, 09, 2009 – South Africa’s automotive industry has put its full weight behind the South African Automotive Week, which comes at a time when the automotive sector is showing signs of emerging from the global recession. Organized by the Automotive Industry Development Centre (AIDC), the conference runs until 10 October at the Moffet on Main Lifestyle Centre in Walmer, Port Elizabeth.
The interest displayed in the 4-day trade show, which is fully endorsed by SA’s four largest automotive industry associations – NAACAM, NAAMSA, RMI and AIDC - suggests that the South African motor industry is recovering. Government has taken an active role, sending representatives from national, provincial and local government to the conference. SAAW has also garnered strong support from Business, with international chemicals giant, BASF, as key exhibitor. Around 800 local and international visitors are expected to attend SAAW.
